Who is the Executor of an Estate?
An executor is a person who has been assigned the task of carrying out the instructions in the will on how the testator would like the estate's assets and property to be distributed. Either the testator can designate someone to serve as an executor or the court can appoint an executor of an estate. In the latter instance, the court-appointed executor may also referred be referred to as an administrator. Most of the time, an executor oversees the processing of a person's estate through the probate process—first by conducting an inventory or assets, then by paying any debts or taxes, and finally by distributing the remaining property.
