What is Divorce Mediation?

Mediation is a conflict resoluton process that may be used by divorcing parties to resolve differences over the terms of their divorce. Because mediation is a less adversarial process than litigation, many parties favor such an approach, especially if they share minor children and desire to be on good terms with their ex-spouse after the divorce is finalized. Additionally, mediation offers the parties some semblance of privacy since the proceeding is not conducted in open court and may save them money that would otherwise be spent in attorney fees during litigation. Courts also tend to approve mediated settlements quickly, which may be an advantage to both parties. Read more about divorce mediation.
