Kansas native, graduated from Kansas University Law School in 1982. Engaged in private practice of law, practice limited to civil matters; personal injury, consumer matters, landlord tenant, estate planning, real estate and business transactions.

I am a licensed attorney passionate about helping individuals with family law issues (divorce, legal separation, child custody & support, paternity, premarital agreements, and modifications of parenting time and support.) While in law school Ms. Richards completed an externship with the Riley County Attorney’s Office. Ms. Richards began practicing in 2012 and has experience handling civil and criminal matters including domestic relations, bankruptcy, criminal defense, appellate practice, real estate, landlord/tenant, personal injury, and collections. Ms. Richards’ domestic relations experience includes; divorces involving members of the military, child custody, child support, paternity, Protection from Abuse, Protection from Stalking, the division of farm assets in divorce, step-parent adoption, post-divorce litigation and appellate practice.

I was admitted to practice in 1988 and since that time have been in continual private practice. I am a member of the Kansas Women's Attorney's Association, The Topeka Area Bankruptcy Counsel and the Riley County Bar Association. I am a past President of the Riley County Bar Association and have appeared twice before the United States Supreme Court and routinely appear in Federal Court.
