I enjoy the interaction with people where I can explain something that may seem complex in a way that helps them understand. As a former teacher, I do enjoy those ah-ha moments where things click. I enjoy talking with clients and getting to know them and their situation, so that I can find the best possible solutions for their needs. I believe that effective estate planning is a critical component of my client’s life planning. I believe that family fights over inheritance are unnecessary and wasteful. Families achieve better outcomes through planning rather than fighting. While it is...

As a former "big Bank" real estate and contracts attorney, I love to demystify complicated real estate and financial legal concepts and problems for people who are frustrated, "spinning their wheels" with incompetent or dismissive real estate or banking "professionals."

I hate when someone finds themselves at a legal disadvantage - they're "stuck" when they unknowingly relying on outdated or impractical information and forms off of the "internet." People often get in trouble when they base their legal decisions off of "outside chatter." They...

Giving legal counsel and advice is a difficult practice, governed by a web of intersecting federal and state legislation and subject to constant change. Whether you are looking at legal compliance, negotiating a contract or real estate deal, or having to fight an unreasonable claim or lawsuit, you have to balance legal rights and obligations with the knowledge that business and life must go on. That is why I consider every client my most important client and give clients easy access, fast response times, brief, practical, and easy to understand legal advice, and point out and help clients...

I have been practicing law for almost 20 years, and focus my practice on litigation cases, business law, family law cases, misdemeanor criminal defense, probate law, and real estate matters.

My office is in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, which is a suburb of Detroit. I represent clients mostly in the Metro Detroit area (Oakland, Wayne, Macomb, and Washtenaw counties). Buying, selling, or renting property?

Real estate refers to land, as well as anything permanently attached to the land, such as buildings and other structures, and covers more than just the drafting of contracts for the purchase and sale of property. Both federal and state laws regulate real estate transactions. The Federal Fair Housing Act, for example, prohibits discrimination in real estate transactions on account of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Many states have enacted similar legislation that prohibits discrimination on the basis of certain characteristics.

Attorneys in this field may handle leasing issues, landlord-tenant disputes, eviction proceedings and homeowner association (HOA) problems. Other matters within this practice area include title disputes, mortgages, covenants, easements, and equitable servitudes. Many real estate issues can affect both commercial and individual renters and landlords. Real estate lawyers who represent commercial interests may also focus on land use, zoning, environmental law, or eminent domain issues.

Some states provide a certification for lawyers who have demonstrated experience and competency in the practice of real estate law. These attorneys must meet certain educational, experience, and examination requirements to receive the certification as a specialist.

Deed: The legal document that transfers the ownership of real property from one party to another.

Mortgage: A mortgage is a document signed by a borrower when a loan is made that gives the lender a right to take possession of the property if the borrower fails to repay the loan.
