Roy was born and raised in Texas, graduating from Texas City High School. The same night his HS class held its graduation ceremony Roy was in North Dakota getting married at just 18 years old to his sweetheart, Laurie from Walhalla, North Dakota. Michael M. Probus, Jr. received his law degree with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 1988.
